The Devils Persuasion

Christian: I think I love you Lord, I want to follow your ways

Devil: Ahh, forget about Him, rebel, enjoy the rest of your days.

Christian: What can I do God; there are so many directions, so many turns

Devil: Don’t stress, come my way, there’s no such thing as a hell that burns.

Christian: I do want to obey your commandments, but they seem so hard to comprehend,

Devil: I’ll teach you to be a good person now and then, in that way you’ll make amend;

Christian: Oh Jesus, I do enjoy the bible, but there are so many things which are hard to believe,

Devil: You can say that again, let me enlighten your mind, (more knowledge you will receive) look, nothing hidden up my sleeve.

Christian: Father, I do try to pray everyday, but my mind never remains sober,

Devil: You don’t need prayer, it’s for the weak, ever considered the powers of yoga,

Christian: Oh God, I’m beginning to doubt things, maybe I’m too young to commit to You,

Devil: Your on the right track boy, Christians are fake, they’re not true.

Christian: I’m sorry God, there are so many things in the world I wish to enjoy yet

Devil: Whooo hoooo, I’ll show you a whale of a time, if only sooner we had met.

Christian: And God, I always did believe in Darwins theory as opposed to church

Devil: Your right, Darwin was always true; you’ve just been left in the lurch.

Christian: So God, I’ve made up my mind, I’ll come back to you later on in life.
Just let me make some money, when I’m grey and old with my wife.

Until then, I may pop into to church to visit You now and then,
For now, I’m going with him, will be back again, don’t know when.

Devil: I’ve scored another point, another weak Christian who never loved Jesus
He’ll be living in sin for some years now; that should easily please us.

Now I’ll slowly work within the church, and spread gossip and pride
And cause them all to stray from God’s love that is so deep and wide.

But my problem is those sold out Christians who oppose all my ways
I guess I’ll just keep trying harder, afflicting them all their days.
