Be still and know that I am God
Dearly beloved,
Last night a thought came to mind whilst speaking to a fellow Christian about service unto God. We were discussing some of the practical deeds we ought to do out of our love for others both in and out the body of Christ.
As we continued to share our thoughts on church life and especially evangelism, I realised how busy we would become if we were to be involved in everything we were talking about like social nights, conventions, football comps, youth outings, outreach programs etc etc; all for the sake of the gospel. But that concerned and worried me.
Why did it worry me? Was it because I was afraid of hard work? No. Was it because I thought I won’t have enough time to do the things I wanted to do? No. Then what was it that worried me?
It was simply a fear of doing too much for God in my own strength, my own wisdom, my own methods and my own might that I may not have time for Him or allow Him to do anything. But isn’t work unto God a good thing, doesn’t the bible say “whatever you do, do it as though you do it unto God”, shouldn’t you spend all your time doing things for God, etc etc, and the answer to all the above are yes. But God gave me a word from psalms 46:
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen; I will be exalted in the earth.
God was trying to tell me that whilst work unto Him is good and profitable, it is Him who ultimately does the work. He wants us to stop sometimes and be still and know that He is God, He is sovereign, He can do all things, He doesn’t want us to run around like headless chickens trying to do things for Him, but rather wants us to submit to Him and be still. Then He goes on to say “I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth”, He will save that which is lost, He will do it.
All He wants from us is to be obedient to His word and to seek Him daily in prayer then He shows us what to do, then we will be following Him rather than leading Him.
So be still and know that He is God, and if He be lifted up, He will draw ALL men to Him.

Amen bro. God isn’t impressed with busy bodies. In His presence all fear is gone. At His feet in silence is the most beautiful place to be. Just picture an eternity in heaven bro, sitting at His feet, knowing Him and getting to know Him.

Amen.
This shows that we need to slow down and be with God at all times.
God bless.
That’s a very good point. I’m quite the reflector and I see what you mean.
