Yet Another Day of Christmas

People all over the world celebrate the day of Christmas but many of them do not even recognise the importance of this day. Many look forward to the day of Christmas day for various reasons. Month of December means tons of shopping as there are massive sales in high street shops. They want to give and receive the gifts. Pubs and clubs become prime locations of the celebration. Unlike the world for us Christians it is much more than just a celebration day; for this is the day when our savior came into this world. Hence, I have decided to share a brief history behind the birth of Christ.

The Fall of Mankind
I see people say; if God is perfect and then how His creation can is not perfect. What has gone wrong with us for perfect God has made us. I believe that Adam and Eve were perfect because God created man in his own image
(Genesis 1:27).

Satan tempted Eve. Eve’s disobedience brought “SIN” in this world. Thus perfect creation of God was contaminated with sin. Since then human struggled with sin and became unrighteous in the sight of Holy God. God had to throw both Adam and Eve to away from Garden of Eden for they had disobeyed God.

“…….So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.” – Genesis 3:6-7

And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?…..” Genesis 3:11

Entire world became rebellious against God; for they loved their sin so much that they forgot about the sovereignty of God. The earth became occupied with sin, hence God decided to destroy His creation. However, He saved Noah and his family for he served the Lord God with all is heart.

“So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” – Genesis 6:6-7

Prophecy of Birth of Christ

The people again became addicted to their sin because of their deceitful hearts and the carnal nature of the flesh. However, God decided not to destroy the whole mankind like before because His covenant with Noah. God prepared a way for sinners to escape the punishment of their sins. God spoke to Prophet Isaiah and Isaiah saw the holiness of God he fell and cried; for God showed him that not even one person in the entire world stood righteous in the sight of Holy God.

“Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts.”Isaiah 6:5

God used Isaiah to prophecy the first of coming of Christ in this world approximately 700 years before the birth of Christ.

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” - Isaiah 7:14

Jesus Christ is Born

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit”. - Matthews 1:18

According to the prophecies of prophet Isaiah and Micah; Christ Jesus came into this world around 2000 years ago. He was born in a small town called Bethlehem in Jerusalem of Israel.

Christ Jesus came in the world to save sinners
The bible tells us that Jesus came into this world (1Timothy 1:15) for we may escape the eternal punishment of hell which we deserved. We were in the hands of ANGRY GOD for us the people had forgotten about God and His ways.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23

We all have sinned against God and deserved every single bit of punishment. It is clear that God hates sin and He will punish those who do not walk according the Law of God. Regardless of the fact that our works are like filthy rags in the sight of Holy  God; He still loved us and provided a way to escape the eternal punishment.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”- John 3:16.

Second Coming of Christ
One cannot earn salvation for it is a free gift from God. We cannot engineer our salvation; it only comes by accepting Christ. Those who have not acknowledged Christ as their Savior still have time to do it; for it will not be long when He makes His inevitable
second coming for after that point one will not be able to acquire another chance for forgiveness.

Those who have accepted Christ and think they love Christ, but still living in sin of all sorts then let me remind you that God will not be pleased at all. He will say unto you that you have had your chances, enough is enough, you either say yes or no. It’s simple. Gospel is simple.

Lighten Up Your Hearts
I observe Christmas lights where ever I go. The houses have been decorated with lots of flashy lights, Christmas trees etc. There is nothing wrong with these things; but my concern is that has Christmas not become mere a symbol of seasonal greeting? I would rather have my heart enlighten with the light of Jesus than the house decorated with all these fancy lights. I would rather thank God and sing His praises than buy expensive gift for myself and my family. I would rather choose to pray for those who have not accepted Christ than eating and drinking amongst them.

My friends, give thank unto the Lord for His son Jesus Christ and ponder for a moment that why He chose to come in the world? He came to save us from the punishment that we deserved. He took our punishment on the cross. Let me tell you that if you are struggling with sin in your life and you have not accepted Christ as your savior then I urge you all to invite Jesus into your hearts for He not only holds the authority to forgive you but is willing to bless you with the gift of salvation this day.

In Christ
