My Friends Are Dying
It all started just after I surrendered myself unto the Lord Jesus. I gave my life to Jesus because I found that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). I repented of my sins and asked God to forgive my inequities. Lord who is rich in mercy did not only forgive me but gave me a new life too.
I became aware of this sudden change in my life when the company of this world seemed vanity to me (Ecclesiastes 12:8). I was eager to learn more and more about the Jesus Christ. I began to spend more time in reading Bible and came to the conclusion that Jesus is not an imaginary God; instead, He is the way to everlasting life. (John 1:1-4).
God plucked me out of the mire as I knew not how to come out of it. It is written,” you will find the truth and the truth set will set you free” (John 8:32).Indeed, the truth of Christ has set me free. It has set me free from my old wicked desires, bondage of sin, and false ways of this world. I became a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Hallelujah!
One day while I was reading bible; I felt convicted of something? I could not stop thinking about it? Was God trying to tell me about something very serious? Finally, God moved my attention towards the lives of my friends. I asked God, “What is it that bothers you about my friends? They are doing perfectly fine. They are physically fit and healthy; I don’t see any symptoms of any disease that I may know of.” I thought perhaps God has got it wrong so I just ignored Him.
It was not long when Holy Spirit prompted me once again. God not only spoke to me but provided evidence that my friends were infected with the serious disease called SIN. “You suffered from the same disease and I am the One who have freed you from this”, said God.
He carried on saying, “it was one of my faithful who brought you unto Me while you were thinking there was nothing wrong with you; My Law (Exodus 20) made you realise that you were infected with this horrible disease. You trembled; for you came to know that this SIN was a spiritual cancer that was going to take your life and leave you in the pits of hell. You got cured through my grace. Your condition was terrible, but it was I who cured you, it was I who carried you through your good and bad times. It was I who delivered you from you sins, it’s all about me” (Ephesians 2:1-4)
Well, God was right as He always is. I did not know about the severity of this disease because I had found a new way to live with it. When I was getting worse I understood my own badness less and less. When I started to get better, I realised that I was in desperate situation. The more I get better the more I hate the sin and it is an ongoing process which will only stop at second coming of Christ Jesus.
I said unto God, “I do not want to think about my disease anymore. What is it that you want me to do? He replied,” You are freed from sin through my grace. You are saved now. BUT…What about your friends? They are infected with SIN too; their condition has gone from bad to worse and they are heading towards eternal hell. Now, who will tell them (Isaiah 6:8-10) that THEY ARE DYING and are in desperate need of a Saviour.”

If only every believer in the church had this urgency and zeal for the lost bro? truly if God were to give each one of us a vision of eternity and hell, we would wake up from a self-absorbed Christianity.
