A Gruesome Bible
The Bible does not gloss over or try to cover up the gruesome, bloody and horrible history of mankind. Many people have a problem with the Bible because of the bloodshed, murder, death, sexual sin, debauchery and the very graphic content of the scriptures. They say ‘the Bible can’t be Gods Word, it is too gruesome.’
I say it has to be the Word of God because it is gruesome. I would have more of a problem with the Bible if it painted a lovely romanticised picture of everything – a kind of flowery, sunny, everyone is happy kind of history. The Bible is testimony to the reality of this world and by no means tries to apologise for it or brush it under the carpet. It doesn’t seek to cover up the gore but show it, expose it and reveal the true reality of the history of mankind.
If you have a problem with the Bible, perhaps you have a problem with history too.
The Bible doesn’t make take what is dark and evil and call it good and proper.

Seems to be a favourite rouse of the skeptic to plough through the Old testament to show God as a`big-mean-and-nasty` barbarian for killing so-and-so in such-and-such a manner.
Luke 13v5 – Jesus then dumbs it down for you!
