In the Presence of Jesus is the fullness of Joy
I’ve been thinking a lot about fullness of joy recently. What makes a Christian rejoice and come into fullness, what makes him excited, what gets his heart beating and blood flowing, what puts the ‘jesus smile’ on his face?
Psalm 16:11 “in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
I just wanted to speak about Jesus with someone. I can’t keep it locked in.
Isn’t it true that we only find really contentment and joy when making His name famous? When we speak about Jesus and read about His name, His glory and splendour? When our eyes cross over pages of books and see His deity conveyed through words.
Yesterday Sonny and myself went street witnessing on the streets of King Street and ended up sharing the Gospel with about 4 young men in Emerald Square, Old Southall West London. We spoke to them of joy inexpressible and the misery of not having Jesus. How their lives were empty without Jesus and they stood alienated from God.
Today I have been thinking, the reason why missions and evangelism and church is such a failure sometimes, is because many Christians who tell people about Jesus and His joy, don’t really have it themselves. We can tell people about His glory and His presence and never have experienced it ourselves. This is one of the worst things that could happen to a Christian.
Imagine telling someone about ’pineapple’ or ‘ice-cream’ never having tasted or at least even smelt it yourself. Wouldn’t that do great injustice to the tangy taste of ‘pineapple’ and the creamy coldness of ‘ice-cream’.
Beloved in Christ, let this not be named among us. Let us be diligent to taste and see, experience and know so that when we tell people about Jesus and talk to the lost of His Majesty, that through our eyes and words they will know that we have been in His presence and come from His chambers.
Pray tonight in the very presence of God with clean hearts, clean hands, clean minds, rid of sin. Don’t come out of the prayer closet until you have the fullness of joy and then, go tell others what they are missing.
