About Us
“that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death” Philippians 3:10
Apart from Jesus Christ, you and I have no part with God. This is perhaps the greatest motivation to know Christ because outside of Him there is no way, no hope and certainly no chance of ever being reconciled with God. To know Him and be known by Him is my only hope. Jesus Christ alone stands as the only way to know the One True God and come into fellowship with Him. He is the image of the invisible God. So, is it important to know Christ? Let’s put it this way, my eternity depends on my relationship with Jesus Christ. So to know Him, ought to be the pursuit above all pursuits. The ambition above all ambitions and the greatest desire above all other desires. Every other ambition, desire and pursuit ought to live in its shadow. As John Flavel put it “No doctrine is more excellent, or necessary to be preached and studied, than Jesus Christ, and him crucified”.
Why? Because He is worthy to be known. To know Him intimately as the Apostle Paul desired to know Him brings Him the glory that belongs to Him. Therefore, the chief end (purpose) of man is to give Him glory. The eternal value of Jesus Christ is greater than all the combined riches that men can bring to the table. His glory makes the sun look like a candel stick. His worth is more precious than all the humans ever created. His fame exceeds all the splendour of the universe. Even if all men rejected Him, He would still be glorious, worthy and just. Our knowing Him doesn’t add or take away from His awesome glory. That He will always be. However, by us knowing Him brings Him delight and pleasure. We become to Him a sweet smelling aroma.
This website has therefore been prayerfully put together because of this great pursuit and out of devotion and worship to Christ Jesus, my beautiful Saviour. The quest of that That I May Know Him is to know Him and make Him known through: devotional articles, theological reflections, poetry, faqs, recommendations and other resources.
This website blog is simply birthed out of a desire to write to Christ and write about Christ. Nothing more and nothing less. It is not an ambitious attempt to create a following or gather attention, but simply a journal to look back and marvel at God’s grace, providence and sovereign reign upon my life. I was inspired by a close brother (Sunny Kundhi) who suggested writing a journal highlighting all the wonderful things He has done in my life and then looking back at it over the years. Whilst in the library at Wycliffe I stumbled upon the Journal of John Wesley and was astounded at the meticulous detail with which he recorded every aspect of his walk with God. As I read it, I couldn’t but help praise God for how he used this one man to flood the nation of Britain with truth.
The questions for today are: where are the Wesley’s, the Spurgeon’s and the Whitefield’s? Where are those who look like Christ and imitate Him? Where are those who lift up the trumpet and sound the alarm? Where are those who cry on the rooftops like the prophets cried and warned of the coming judgement and the deliverance thereof?
That I May Know Him – Apart from Jesus Christ you have no part with God. So to know Him, be known by Him and make Him known is the greatest pursuit you can pursue. All other pursuits ought to live in its shadow.
