The notions most people have of God being holy is of moral purity, goodness or righteousness. Whilst these definitions certainly are true, they represent only a secondary way in which God is said to be holy. The primary and definitive thrust of the meaning that God is holy is somewhat different.

The holiness of God pervades the Scriptures from cover to cover. God undeniably, unashamedly and repeatedly draws attention to His own holiness. It is impossible to read the Bible and miss this piercing attribute of holiness which uniquely belongs to God. What separates Christianity from all the other religions of the world is that the God of the Bible is infinitely holy.

What Can Wash Away My Sins?
The other day, whilst visiting the lavatory at work, I met a research student called Mohammed. It was a rather strange experience because Mohammed was frantically washing his feet away in the sink. At first, I have to say I found it rather nauseating and asked him not to do that because a sink, the last time I remember was designed to wash hands. It was very off putting because he had pretty much stunk up the lavatory and put others off from entering.

In the following 25 weeks, we will look at the attributes of God in greater depth. This is not an exhaustive study because God is inexhaustive, but a humble approach towards God.
The Only True God – A Bible Study on the Attributes of God
We hear everything pertaining to God, but seldom do we hear about God Himself. There is so much noise from the pulpits of many churches today, but very little noise is made about the majesty and justice of God’s character. There is a great need to begin teaching again on the attributes of God in order that the people of God again lift up their eyes to the loftiness of His Majesty. A.W. Tozer very succintly pointed the error and malady when we stop speaking much about the attributes of God.
