‘Intro to Jesus’ is an attempt to introduce readers to Jesus in a simple and uncomplicated way. Jesus died for all. He calls all men everywhere to repent of their sins and believe in the Gospel. Whether you are a European, Asian, American, South-Asian or from any other people group, He died for your sins. The Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ is for all nations. Imagine telling someone about ‘pineapple’ or ‘ice-cream’ never having tasted or at least even smelt it yourself. Wouldn’t that do great injustice to the tangy taste of ‘pineapple’ and the creamy coldness of ‘ice-cream’. This is what Christians often do when they tell people about Jesus without ever personally experiencing His fullness.

We often hear so many sermons about ‘Why Jesus Came’ which is very good. We need to be hearing as a constant reminder of why Jesus came. But Luke 9:56 is very special and unique because Jesus does the opposite and clarifies very strongly for what reason He DIDN’T come.

Who do I think I am when I say I have made Him Lord of my life? Regardless of whether I do this or not, He is Lord of all. He doesn’t need a fool like me to make Him Lord, He already is Lord and whether I bend the knee on this side of eternity or not, He has always been Lord and will always continue to be Lord.

And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell…(Colossians 1:17-19)
Don’t you see, that the Father has bestowed EVERTHING to and for Christ. He ought to be preeminent in absolutely everthing. Don’t lean your Christianity on your intuitions. Lean your Christianity on Jesus Christ and the Word of God alone.
We are usually presented with very faith building devotions. We are often presented a side of God which is love, kindness, mercy and peace. The phrase ‘Jesus loves you’ is a very commonly used evangelism tool because it sounds pleasant and causes little scandal. But how often do we carefully and surgically look at the full counsel of Gods character? When was the last time you picked up your Bible and asked God to reveal His Holy hatred for sin and His coming wrath?
